Thanks to a generous invite code gifty from wintercreek, I am shoelacedreamer over at dreamwidth. I won't be moving there full-time and once I get my life back I'll have to play around with it a bit more, but you can find me there, if you're looking.

You know,I have absolutely no idea what I am doing there too-I mean,I don't need another journal!I already have two I never used,lol.LJ is enough for me:)

Yeah, I'm mostly going to use it as backup. When I figure things out I may cross-post, but that's up in the air right now. LJ is my home and I'm not planning on going anywhere. :)

About a year ago I got myself an InsaneJournal for backup-never needed it,lol.I've been on lj for over 4 years,I really see no reason to move to new shiny which is based on LJ anyways and is more expensive.

I got an insanejournal last year, too, but I could never figure out how to use it! Like you, I've been on LJ so long (since 2003! Holy mother of God!) and have no plans to move elsewhere unless something unforeseen happens.

Sometimes it amazes me that I've been here for that long and still is so addicted!I went to Thailand in December and took my laptop with me-both to save lots of money on phone calls home(3$ a minute) and stay updated on whats going on here,lol.

The longest I went without LJ was a month and that was when I was in Scotland, wandering about the highlands. I've met some great people here, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. :)

The way I've come to understand it, Dreamwidth is a journaling site based on Livejournal but run by folks involved in "fandom." I find this refreshing because the folks who run livejournal have seriously pressed their luck with me one too many times. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to renew my paid subscription by Tuesday. I won't be moving to Dreamwidth unless livejournal goes completely insane and craps out or something. *shrug*

Indeed. And I have been schooled as to dreamwidth purposes, etc: it's not by the fans for the fans. Can't say exactly what it is, beyond ad-free and significantly more expensive than LJ. Which is fine, but which also means I won't be getting a paid account over there.
