Music Rec: Rockabye Baby, Metallica

For my birthday this year dissonant_dream found me the most hilarious gift, a copy of the Rockabye Baby Metallica album. For those of you unfamiliar with the Rockabye Baby discs, they're discs that "[transform] timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies." The description on the back of the disc includes the following:

The soothing sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron and other instruments will lull your baby into a sweet slumber.

I finally got the chance to listen to this disc tonight and was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't nearly as cheesy as I feared it might be. I'm particularly taken with the following renditions:

Oooh, they kind of creep me out. I'm not sure how I feel about them...sort of haunting.

I think that's why I'm so fond of them, actually! Like, would I ever play these for my sleeping child? Hell no! Would I use them in a scary movie? Yep. I am totally going to get the Led Zep. one at some point. :P
