I am unashamed about how much I love cover songs. I love them, which is kind of a strange confession considering that I really don't have patience for American Idol or (to an extent) Glee. I think my problem is that people hear these new covers and then often never know or search out the original track, which is usually the definitive recording.

That being said, tonight's song is Bryan Ferry's cover of Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street." This is one of my favorite Dylan songs, and perhaps the one that I connect to the most, emotionally. I love this particular cover because I think it better represents the emotional resonance of the song; Dylan's original track sounds deceptively bouncy and lighthearted, Ferry's cover is significantly more solemn and melancholy.
