It's always nice to break out the yearly cookie icon. :)

Holiday Card Post:

I don't know if I'll be hand-making them this year, but if you would like some holiday cheer in the form of a card from my neck of the woods, let me know and drop your address in the comments. Comments are naturally screened. (You are also welcome to PM addresses, if you prefer).

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and that you are being safe on this crazy Friday. I'm off to the library for a few hours of Edgar Sawtelle. ♥

An hour and a half before the ball drops here on the West Coast, but I'm heading to bed. New Year's always leaves me more than a little depressed, although plowing through four episodes of first season Leverage with Bergie definitely helped. For the most part, 2009 was good to me and I hope that I can make 2010 even better.

I'll leave you with two renditions of my two favorite New Year's Eve songs. :)

"Auld Lang Syne"
Artist: John Fahey

Artists: Sara Mareilles, Jim Bianco, Cary Brothers, Buddy, Holy Conlan, Marie Digby, Katie Herzig, Jesca Hoop, Laura Jansen, Tim Jones, Greg Laswell, Lenka, Anya Marina, Jonah Matranga, INgrid Michaelson, Meiko, Joshua Radin and Butch Walker
(this rendition makes me cry)

It's been a rough couple of days just in terms of time management. I feel like I haven't really sat down since Friday. Tonight while I was wrapping up gifts I was listening to my current favorite holiday album, John Fahey's New Possibility. It's a steel guitar instrumental Christmas album for all your old-fashioned cowboy holiday needs. I've uploaded the whole album mp3 for your enjoyment. Love you guys. ♥

Two songs about love & zombies for this Halloween afternoon.

Man Man is seriously the most interesting and unique music I own. Their Rabbit Habits album is endlessly fascinating to me. I think they must have so much fun making their music.

"Big Trouble"
(yousendit) (sendspace)

Dead Man's Bones is a group I just learned about from Paste, but I'm going to be keeping my ears open for more music from these guys. I really enjoy this trend of having big, rotating choruses. It feels very inclusive and organic.

"My Body's a Zombie for You"
(yousendit) (sendspace)

That's all, folks. I hope you had fun. I'm going to make a poll about the OSaD tomorrow. Happy Halloween!

And I wish the rest of you a Happy (& Safe) Halloween.

I know you often find yourself asking this question:

"Is Deborah lame/awesome enough to have made, written and mailed a Christmas Card to Josh Ritter in which she requests that he play 'Lawrence, Kansas' and/or 'Bone of Song' when he comes back to the Aladdin in February?"

The answer, my friends, is yes. December makes me stupid. But it'll be awesome if he actually does it. Yes. I love Josh.

ETA: Someday Cute Waiter Guy at Big River will realize that he's meant to give me beautiful, beautiful babies. He knows my drink order and my usual dinner order. He's ridiculously good looking and can speak knowledgeably about wine with my folks. He told me I should go up to the winery by Enchanted Forest this summer and do the Grape Stomp they have every year. He shall be mine. *sigh* Seriously, Global Orgasm Day.

I am so tired of baking. But.

One more batch of sugar cookies. Two more batches of rice krispie treats. Perhaps one more thing of fudge. For some reason, the list keeps growing. There are ten more plates to make, and maybe if I'm really lucky Mom'll make those mexican wedding cake cookies.

*expires*

ETA: Oh man, and today is Global Orgasm Day. Shoot. I did not plan for that at all. I suppose all this sugar induced lardgasm will just have to suffice. :P
