Last year I uploaded one song a day during the month of October. Enough folks expressed interest, so I'll be doing it again. These posts will all be public. All downloads will be mp3.

I actually forgot that today was the beginning of the month, so we're going to start out nice & easy tonight with one of my perpetual favorites. You may recognize it from the awful "Where's the Beef" or Valley Ranch ads from back in the day, but for me it hits me right in the center of my chest where my nostalgia for the idealized film-version of the great trek west lives. I find it incredibly evocative and I could live in Aaron Copland's work, the Rodeo suite in particular. The combination of the strings and the horns is my favorite thing ever. There's so much power in this song; it never fails to move me.

"Rodeo: IV - Hoe-Down" by Aaron Copland, performed by the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Bernstein

All right, we'll see how this goes. Have a happy Friday, everyone!
