I love Johnny Flynn so much. You just have no idea. This skinny little hipster Brit who plays way too many instruments captured my heart a few years ago with "The Box" and he released his latest, Been Listening, in the US yesterday. His songs are these little moments of whimsy and Dickensian chaos and they fill me with this incredible longing unlike anything I've felt in a long, long time. I don't know what it is about him and his music, but it makes me want. What, I'm not entirely sure, but that feeling of never getting close enough is very strong. For fans of Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons, and Joe Pug.

Still haven't listened to the album in it's entirety, but here are two that caught my ear this afternoon.

I can't talk coherently about Johnny Flynn. I haven't been able to corral my thoughts about him, like I have with Josh; it's all still too new. :P My day dream is to move to some Scandinavian country and live in a little house with him where we'll have an organic garden and three cats and he will teach me to play all of his instruments and we'll have dinner parties for Josh & Dawn and Laura Marling & her Mumford & Sons boyfriend.

I have never heard of him until now, although I do have one song on my iPod - The Box. (Yes, it is possible to have a song by someone and not know who they are *g*)

I frequently want to be in Scandinavia. I'm just saying. I love this image and it sounds so cool. I just sound weird now, shutting up and going to listen to The Box.

For the longest time I thought he was an older guy, because his voice and his lyrics seem so mature, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him in all his interesting-scarred, beautiful-faced glory. ♥ I'm so very intrigued by him; he seems otherworldly, very fae.

It was The Amazing Race that really made me want to visit Scandinavia. We should put it on our list of places to see. :) Yay, The Box! It is one of my very favorite songs. I started writing a 4x16 coda fic based on it, which is kind of weird. The chorus is boss.
