I'm combining my entries tonight, for sleeps sake.
Song of the day is Hole's "Celebrity Skin" from the 1998 album of the same name. I was obsessed with this cd for a few months in high school, probably because in my brain I equated it with BtVS. *shrug* I chose it for the song of the day because "CElebrity Skin" was the original title for SPN 5x05, and I really really really think they should've stuck with it, and not only because it's sung by another questionably talented trashy blond. I think the title fits better with the actual themes of the episode and the "monster of the week."
"Celebrity Skin"

In terms of the episode itself, I was...bored. Meh. *shrug* Season one is my favorite season, hands down, and I can see how they were trying to revert back to that with this ep, but like Sam said, it didn't work. We can't go back to that anymore than the brothers can pretend the last four years didn't happen. We just have to move forward now, towards the apocalypse. Saddle up.
Hee, House of Wax reference.
Also, DAMN YOU, SHOW, FOR TAUNTING ME WITH POSSIBLE SURPRISE!JDM!!!! My heart actually stopped for half a beat. :P
And that promo? BANANAS. O_O (are we on hiatus now?)
Possibly going to Wordstock with
chlorate on Saturday, which would be awesome. In other news, my knees are still aching like you wouldn't believe. It became difficult to walk by the time I got home tonight, and driving was slightly torturous. Eeesh. Okay, bedtime.

Date: 2009-10-09 04:42 pm (UTC)I hate episode like this that make me watch to see important storyline stuff between Dean and Sam, but overall I'm bored of the episode.

Date: 2009-10-09 07:30 pm (UTC)The one thing that makes me think fondly of the episode is the conversation they have about Gandhi with the obvious fruitarian joke that Dean just lets lie. Just lets it go, which, I don't know why, made me adore him in that moment. /random One of Dean's character traits that I really like is when he encounters a new word or a word , he'll repeat it a number of times throughout the conversation/episode.
Sometimes I feel like the storyline stuff between the boys is just shoved into some of these episodes to give them weight. It felt choppy to me last night, incongruent with the slapdashery of the rest of the ep. *shrug* I'll do a rewatch later this week with my local SPN gal.
