I'm going to fangirl here for a moment. But only a moment, as it's after midnight and I need to go to bed. Josh Ritter. I love this man more than I probably should. Tomorrow I'll put up a full show review (both for Saturday and tonight) but I just have to flail about this for now. :)
Josh: Hi, how’re you doin?
Me & Mary: Hey, great show,
Josh: Thank you so much.
Me & Mary: We saw you Saturday up in Portland, awesome show both nights.
Josh: Thank you. My guitar was so out of tune up there tonight.
Me & Mary: Well, hey, we didn’t notice so.
Me: I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind writing something in my journal.
Josh: Oh, hey, yeah! What’s your name?
Me: Deborah.
Josh: How do I spell it?
Me: *spells like a mofo*
Josh: We’ve met before, haven’t we?
Me: Yeah, in Portland last October at the Schnitz. I won the tickets.
Josh: Oh yeah, I remember!
Me: I really love that new song, is it A-t-o-m or…?
Josh: A-d-a-m
Me: Ah. Well, I love that one.
Josh: Thank you!
Me: So what’s up with the new album then?
Josh: We’ve got it all recorded and now I’m just trying to find someone to release it. I’m just glad we’re done recording and now we can kinda relax….
Me: Just go play around for a bit...
Josh: Exactly.
Me: Well, I’m very excited about it, whenever it gets released.
Josh: So are you from Portland originally?
Me: No, I’m from Corvallis. Which is nice, you know, right in the middle of Portland and Eugene, so that worked out well.
Josh: And what is it that you do there?
Me: Hopefully I’m going to be working at an independent book and music store called Grass Roots and I do graphic design.
Josh: All right, that’s awesome. Independent bookstores are the best. I worked at one in Providence.
Me: Yeah, and they’re really great people working so hard just to stay afloat in the face of Borders and stuff.
Josh: Oh yeah. *hands back journal, notices all my writing on the cover/spine/back* Wow, that’s awesome.
Me: *laughs* Oh yes, my obsessive writing. Thank you so much for the show, and come back soon!
Josh: *big hugs and cheek kisses* Oh I will. Thank you so much, darlin’.
Me: And have a great tour.
Josh: *grabs & kisses my hand, which, oh my goodness* You have a great night, Deborah!
:) Yeeeaaahhhh, he's one of my favorite people.
Here's a kinda crappy picture of what he wrote in my journal.

Deborah! May all the right words come to you (when you need them). Love, Josh Ritter

Date: 2007-02-27 09:33 pm (UTC)I'm still floating on that high. It was the hand kiss that did it. I turned into the worlds biggest girl. And it still makes me grin like that goat.
When I describe Josh to people I always use the word "nice." He pretty much embodies "nice." It's what he is. So it's a perfect word, in my opinion. He's such a sweetheart and I want to curl up in his sock drawer and sleep for days.

Date: 2007-02-28 01:55 am (UTC)Hey, I'm sorry for kinda monopolizing the Josh. I woulda stuck around for your squee if you'd wanted me to. As it was, my brain kinda turned to mush after the whole hand-kissing thing. Next time, though. ;)
I didn't see him shake your hand; did that happen at the beginning? /obsessing
I'll need to make some Josh icons
Date: 2007-02-28 02:55 am (UTC)And yes, the handshake was at the very beginning. He turned away from his cousin (the time whore) and the first person he saw was me and as I already felt like I'd cut in line I was directing him toward you and guy in the black shirt and he just grabbed my hand for a second. It wasn't so much a shake as a quick squeeze as he was turning. But it was still sweet.

Katie, one day you will see Josh Ritter with us. Or, conversely, we will all take a road trip to Moscow and ask him to sing for us on his front porch.
I need MORE Josh icons now. All the time.

Seriously, I might fangirl him more than I fangirl Paddywhackles. *covers mouth* I was talking with my mother tonight about his made-up college major and his music and his everything and I just want to sit down with him and talk to him for days in a way that I don't think I'd be able to with Jared or Jensen. Basically, I want to thank them for being so very very awesome and amazing (and I want to hug Jared silly), but I want to club Josh over the head and drag him back to live with me in my restaurant in Alaska and sing me to sleep every night.
