Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] dissonant_dream because I love books and lists. ;)

Name fifteen books you've read that will always stay with you, and don't take too much time to think about it (the first fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes). Copy this into your own post.

In no particular order,

1. The Ancient One by T.A. Baron
2. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
3. The Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce
4. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch, illustrated by Sheila McGraw
5. The Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
6. The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig
7. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
8. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
9. Finn by John Clinch
10. Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
11. The Baby Unicorn by Jean & Claudio Marzollo, illustrated by R.J. Blake
12. Lady of the Forest by Jennifer Robertson
13. Lamb, the Gospel According to Biff, Childhood Pal of Christ by Christopher Moore

I think I need to read The Road!

I love books and lists, too, so I did the meme! =)

The Road is a beautiful, excruciating book. I will forever be sad that it's been made into a film. (Bad Viggo! No biscuit for you!)

And now I will go read your list! :D

So I'll read the book and skip the movie, for sure! :D

I've been told I'm judging the movie too harshly when I have no intention of seeing it, but the thing is, part of the beauty of McCarthy's book is that it's written. I don't think the language would translate well visually. *shrug* Just my opinion. I sat down on the couch and read it through in two days. It completely captivated me.

The movie never ever lives up to the book. I have one exception to this rule - LOTR. While I totally appreciate the books, the movies are magical to me.

I was too young when I read the books; I honestly don't remember much about the experience. The movies completely changed the way I experienced cinema, though.

I think that No Country for Old Men is the one film/book combination where I feel that they enhance one another rather than detract. I liked the book better after I saw the movie, and I liked the movie better because I had read the book.

Tamora Pierce. OMG I remember reading that series when I was a teen, and then reading the follow up series The Immortals, which I loved.

I loved those books so much! I think I read the Immortal series, but I know they didn't stick with me the same way the Lioness series did, probably because I was too attached to the characters in the first one.

I loved that Alanna was in the follow up story as well though. :-) Another childhood book I still absolutely love is The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley. I can still read that again and again.

I love how all of Pierce's books take place in the universe. I should really read them this summer.

I just finished Sunshine by McKinley and really enjoyed it. I think it's sorely overlooked as the more adult version of Twilight. I'm going to track down more of her stuff, starting with The Blue Sword.

Oh my goodness! Love you forever! This book makes me want to have babies!

Also, I have decided I need to read everything on your list this summer. I've got #4, 6, 7, 10 down. So quite a few to go. I should think about my own list. Hmmm...I feel like the instant I put it down, I'd need to add something else in and change my mind.

That book makes me want to have babies, too! It still makes me a little teary every time I read it. :)

15 is too small a number for this list. I finished writing it and realized I had about five or six or fifteen more books I needed to add. ;) I can't believe you haven't read The Ancient One. It is necessary. I'd love to see your list if you write one!

Books and lists are made of win. Also, I am totally reading Brief History of the Dead, yay. I don't want our book club to die because I love it. :)

Have added a bunch to my to-read list because whee! New books! Also, Lioness Rampant! We totally have five of those in Harbury. I shall have to check them out. I am also gutted that I haven't yet been able to read Gone Away World. And I really, really wanted to put Good Omens on my list but ran out of room. Stupid arbitrary fifteen.

I've almost finished BHotD! It's my fault that book club has stalled and I feel awful about it. :( I really should've taken my vacation into consideration before making up the master schedule. I WILL DO IT THIS WEEKEND. You have permission to internet-shun me until I make that post. In fact, you probably should. It will be a good motivational tool. ;)

Oh my goodness, you must read the Lioness Rampant series! I love all the characters and can get completely sucked into that world. I want to talk them with you as soon as you're done! In fact, I may reread them this summer just for kicks. ♥

15 books is not a long enough list. I keep remembering other things I want to stick on there, so I may make an addendum.

It's not your fault at all! Don't even think that. Besides, I'm being completely AWFUL and failing at it at the moment, which I hate myself for. But I really love our book club, I do. ♥

There will never be shunning ;)

I will, I will! I might even snag the first one from Harbury today for plane reading, although I have a million other books to bring.

Lists are flargh. *nods*

Wow, I'm lame today. Apologies.
