Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] dissonant_dream because I love books and lists. ;)

Name fifteen books you've read that will always stay with you, and don't take too much time to think about it (the first fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes). Copy this into your own post.

2. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
3. The Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce
4. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch, illustrated by Sheila McGraw
5. The Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
6. The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig
7. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
8. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
9. Finn by John Clinch
10. Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

The Road is a beautiful, excruciating book. I will forever be sad that it's been made into a film. (Bad Viggo! No biscuit for you!)

And now I will go read your list! :D

So I'll read the book and skip the movie, for sure! :D

I've been told I'm judging the movie too harshly when I have no intention of seeing it, but the thing is, part of the beauty of McCarthy's book is that it's written. I don't think the language would translate well visually. *shrug* Just my opinion. I sat down on the couch and read it through in two days. It completely captivated me.

The movie never ever lives up to the book. I have one exception to this rule - LOTR. While I totally appreciate the books, the movies are magical to me.

I was too young when I read the books; I honestly don't remember much about the experience. The movies completely changed the way I experienced cinema, though.

I think that No Country for Old Men is the one film/book combination where I feel that they enhance one another rather than detract. I liked the book better after I saw the movie, and I liked the movie better because I had read the book.
